Next steps – and a recipe

Retirement!

I’ve been working from home doing genealogy research for the past three years and over the past two years my wonderful husband has had the opportunity to also work for home albeit a few trips into an office and to the locations he manages – oops – make that managed!

He’s now semi-retired – doing some consulting for the company from which he retired.

Now we’re deciding how we want to spend our retirement years, although we’ll still be doing the periodic genealogy project and he’ll be available for consulting on various IT topics.

In 2012 we purchased an older, perfectly maintained motorhome in which we travel and really enjoy.  Now we’re trying to decide if we want to be full time RVers, part time RVers, or not RV at all. We aren’t able to store our RV [named ‘Arvey] at our home – no room for it on our lot – so we pay a hefty monthly fee to keep it in a controlled secured environment [well there’s a valet service and some other niceties included in that fee]. Being on a “fixed income” [yeah, I know most of us are on a fixed income whether employed or retired] we’d like to eliminate the storage fee, which contributes to our dilemma.

So, in late July we’re taking an eight week RV road trip to see how we feel about being on the move in an RV for an extended period of time. In the meantime we’re exploring what to do if we are full time RVers after selling our house  –  perhaps buying an RV deeded lot where we could have a small one or two bedroom home in Florida, where we could spend winter months [3 maybe] and travel the rest of the time? So many things to consider – in the interim, I think I’ll keep finding yummy recipes to make and wait to see what happens after our extended trip!

Here’s a recipe from another blogger that I’ll make when we get back from our next RV trip.
