A crisp yet sunny morning

Just at sunrise Rusty took me for a walk. I’m sure it’s supposed to read the other way around but he decides which way we go once we arrive at the ponds – left or right. So this morning we went left passing the largest of the 3 ponds. Rusty has to smell every leaf, every branch has to be watered and he stops quite often for one of those activities. That lets me take a look around – so I saw this view of the sunrise, through the tree branches.

A little further on we stopped again, I think it was a suspicious leaf that he found, it and a couple of others around were getting his full attention, so I took a picture of the moon – not very clear but it’s there on the upper left.

On our way back, on the other side of the ponds I tried to get close to the diving duck and very quietly walked close to the pond. Whoosh – the old fisherman (grey heron) was about 10 feet away and I hadn’t seen him – he took off over the pond and I was so surprised I couldn’t take a picture. I’m not quite sure who was more shocked/surprised – him or me. We also heard what we think is a pack of coyotes making a loud howling and barking commotion the other side of the creek. Talking to one of the other dog walkers, whose house faces the ponds,  it happens once in a while.
